Hi,everyone!I`m new here!
My family and i might be moving to the Concord area in a couple of months( if my husband gets a job there-he is waiting for an answer) and we would love to know from your opnion/experience about the area. There`re a lot of posts about this topic but most of them are old and i wonder if things are not the same...So,what can you suggest for housing? We are looking to rent in a family/kid friendly area;i have found tons of available rents but i am not sure where would be safe since i do not know the area yet.Hope somebody could help us out .I also searched about schools and i had 3 in mind:Cox,Pitts or Carolina international...are they really good schools?I`ve found them to have great ratings on a website but would like to hear from people in this forum.
Thank you so much!

Assuming you mean elementary schools? There is also a Cox Mill High School.
Cabarrus County is the school system for Concord. Cox Mill Elementary and Odell (in same area) are good schools. Like most schools, it does come down to the actual teacher, so its hard to predetermine great fits. They feed into Harris Road Middle and then Cox Mill High School. All are good to great, again depending on the teacher.
I think Pitts feeds into Winkler Middle. Don't know anything about Pitts, but Winkler is a nice new middle school. Most of the staff came from other Cabarrus schools, mainly Harris. It feeds into JM Robinson HS. Its an older school, but the parents and staff I know from there are happy with it and the principal.

We relocated to Concord this past spring and we love it. We are in a community that feeds into Cox Mill Elementary, which is a wonderful school, and there are dozens of families with children of all ages in the community. We are renting now and a purchasing a home in the same community in a few weeks.
We own a home in a development down there they feeds into Cox Mill elementary. The school is wonderful and I've heard nothing but good things from parents. I know some people that have had their kids in Pitts and I've also heard good things and nothing bad. Carolina International is on a lottery system. It's hard to get a spot. You can also look into Cannon School. I have a friend that is a teacher there. Great school.
Hi,everyone!
Thank you so much for your input! So,i went back to research and the schools i saw ,with good rates(7-9 on greatschools.org) ,were :Cox Mill;Harrisburg,Wr Odell,Bethel,Pitts and Charles E. Boger -and yes,we are looking into the elementary schools .I guess my main concern is to find a rent in a safe, kid friendly neighborhood but still affordable. We are aiming for 2 to 3 bedrooms and, since we will be living on my husband income alone, our budget is about 800 /month on a rent. For what you know about concord,am i being unrealistic?Any suggestions to find what we are looking for and still be able to have our kid attend any of those school i`ve mentioned before?Meaning, wich areas am i looking for rental search? Most of websites just show me the adress as charlotte...Again,your help is greatly appreciated! Also, just out of curiosity as a new candidate resident...what is your favorite thing in Concord and ,what is that you are not so happy about it?Hope to be your neighboor soon
You might be able to find a house in the Odell area - try Moss Creek subdivision or The Farm (has davidson address but is zoned for Odell) and the Pitt School area for that rent amount. I'm not familiar with the other schools.
It will be hard to find a rental for $800 in Odell, pretty much impossible for Cox Mill. Moss Creek has townhouses (its between Harris Road, Odell School Road and Hwy 73). But, those usually go for closer to $1,000.
The city of Concord is on the other side of 85 from Odell and Cox Mill. It is closer to Pitts. But, all the rentals in the Cabbarus school district should have an address of Concord or Harrisonburg, not Charlotte. Good luck!
Thanks everyone for your help, unfortunatelly my husband did not get the job.So no Concord for us (at least not now... )
