Kids used to be able to get away with these kinds of threats back before technology could track folks so easily, but now it's just plain stupid to attempt it.
They were likely either bored, angry at a teacher or administrator, wanted to do something wild and crazy, wanted to feel powerful by being able to disrupt the who school, anti-social or just stoned. Take your pick
I remember the bomb threats when I was a teen. Usually , they would go to a phone booth to make the call. This was before all of this BS of today. It's like you cannot even sleep without someone dabbling into your business , but this is a different battle. They were looking stupid on the mugshots. To get a felony , and basically ruin their lives , over a prank , attests to the declining psychological state of each ensuing generation. Then again , maybe it's me advancing in age , IDK.
You guys are right, I remember being young and making prank calls all the time to people homes. With technology tracking, it is difficult to do. Something that probably seemed harmless to them, is now causing them great pain.

Exactly.
Remember the old "do you have Prince Albert in a can?" phone prank, lol.
With the advancement of technology in the last 20 years especially it's a whole new world out there!
We had fake bomb threats several times a year when I was in HS in the 90s. I went to one of the highest rated schools in the Midwest, in an affluent area. This is not a new thing, nor is it some kind of "thug" indicator. Just kids being idiots.

Agree, but the terrible thing is - it is a felony, so that is going to follow them around forever. I hope some mercy is shown by the court. I just can't imagine what good will be served by tagging these young people as felons.
I know we have terrorists and it is a serious matter, but surely there has to be something other than making them felons.
