Thanks for the info. Can you recommend any specific areas to live in the MGSD with young kids preferrably? My son is 8. Also, any info on the Waxhaw area?

Default Mooresville Graded School District upscale neighborhood

I would recommend that you take a look at Wellesley. I am likely going to purchase there myself. It starts in the 300's and goes up to the 600's. The model is absoulutely georgeous. They offer walk-out basements too. Being from the North that is always a consideration. If you would like a referral for an agent in the area that could give you information on Mooresville and Waxsaw let me know or there may be some out here observing that could chime in too! You may also be able to get info from the chamber and check with the Schools themeselves to see if they can assist in guiding you in the right direction.

Dear LItoNC

we are considering a move from Long Island to the Mooresville area. I see you have already made the move. KUDOS. We are coming from Syosset. Where on the Island were you? Since you know the school situation in both NY & NC, your a real find, and I would love to hear your opinion. What is the MGSD School district? Also since you made the move is there anything that you would do differently? And are there other areas that we should be looking into.
Thank you for your help,
Tracey

BxRosie,

Can you tell me which areas feed into the Mooresville Graded School District. You had some really good information to share. Please email me.
Thank you

I was wondering the same thing. I take it you do not get to choose which shcool system you want to go into, it is by where in Mooresville you live?

Generally, if you have a 28115 zip code (within the town limits), you'll be in the MGSD, 28117 will be in Iredell/Statesville SD. Any listing that you look at will have the school district info on it. A few subdivisions that I know are in the MGSD are Harris Village, Harris Crossing, Linwood Farms, Curtis Pond, The Oaks on Main (new by Scenic Homes), Cherry Grove, Wellsley, Kistler Mill, Ashlyn Creek (new by Niblock), Huntwyck Place...I know there's more but I can't remember.

Hope that helps a bit, BxRosie

Very informative post. I am also planning to move to Mooresville. My son will be going to high school this year.
Just curious on the subject, is there any thing changed since last 2008.
Please advice which one I should choose where he can adjust well.
Thanks,

The people above, who bought into the subdivisions mentioned, are taking a bad haircut on prices if they in fact still even own these homes. Prices are dropping like a rock thrown in the lake. Beyond that, most of the school systems in the area are considering or have already announced layoffs due to financial matters.

Beyond that, not much else has changed.
