I have an appointment near the Cinemas at Concord Mills next week at 9:30 a.m. I live in Matthews, Siskey Y area. What will the drive be like, will I encounter the "traffic nightmare" I hear about. Curious as to what time I should leave my house.
TIA
If it is an important appt, plan an hour, give yourself 90 minutes. In essence, leave around 8.
90 minutes seems a bit harsh
Don't forget he'd be taking I485, which runs pretty smoothly on that end of the county and ends right at the mall. To be there at 9:30 a.m. he just needs to give himself 40 minutes or so to make the trip. I say leave home by 8:45 and he'll be fine.
You forgot to see my caveat. If it is important.. In normal situations, I agree, 45 minutes should do it, but if an accident occurs or another delay, I plan that extra 30 minutes time to cover.. Such as going for an interview, they don't often buy the "oh traffic slowed me down" excuse. Heck I used it once, but my car blew up, in July, in Phoenix. I walked a mile (uphill both ways) in a new suit and shoes (ouch) so I was a mess... But alas, I got the job. Did I digress there?
Why don't you leave early and find somewhere close to the destination and sit down & have some coffee? This will keep you relaxed and you can do some preparation in the meantime.
My guess is that it would take no more than 1 hour. I have made it to the Speedway area, which is near Concord Mills, from Indian Trail in like 30 minutes. That was leaving Indian Trail at 815-830. Going on the outer loop is heaven compared to that inner loop going into Charlotte. I try to never leave my house between 6am-830. That seems to be rush hour. I am learning some good back roads
