Does anyone have any info on the new mall comming to Fort Mill? I know it is going to be a spanish style mall but I am wondering if this is going to be good for Fort Mill or just another empty mall.

Plaza Fiesta is a Latino theme mall with more than 200 stores and restaurants. Opening November 2007. I am excited about this as it boosts the economy in the Fort Mill area. My concern is that area will begin to experience too much growth. Fort Mill is a back-up plan in case our town becomes overly crowded...

One of the local Spanish papers, Que Pasa (http://www.quepasamedia.com/web/content/view/2628/59/lang,en/ - broken link) (click if you can read Spanish), reported last week that 70 merchants have rented about 125 of the 347 outlets available.

It's the Atlanta company's second try at this, and from what I understand, Plaza Fiesta Atlanta has fared well from a financial standpoint.

FM is already experiencing rapid growth. I don't think Plaza Fiesta will affect it much as there is already a tourist destination right next to it and it is right on the Charlotte border.

I did find out that Hamrick's is staying, for what it's worth. I didn't know exactly what was going on there... I kinda guessed with "plaza fiesta" that it must be some kind of hispanic/spanish theme...

I hope they get rid of the flea market in Fort Mill since they will have similar vendors in the mall. Does anyone think there is a chance of the town maybe putting a shopping center where the flea market is someday?

Is this mall at the Carowinds Exit where the old Carolina Pottery was located?

Yes, CRock. They're trying to give it a new life. The place has been nearly deserted for several years, so we'll see what they bring in.

Yes, there is already one in Atlanta that does well. I will go for some things hopefully, like tres leches cakes if they have some bakeries in there.
