You can look at GreatSchools all you want, but if you want actual data on school performance, look at the link below.

I admit, ILES is getting better and since their new principal came on board and was actually ranked an Excellent School in 2012. However, actually talking to parents with kids at ILES will be beneficial. There is just not as much funding for these SC schools. Take the cost of homes in Bridgehampton, a subdivision that is half on SC and half on NC. A house on the NC side sells for $50,000+ more than an identical model on the SC side. Why? Kids on the NC side go to Elon Park (excellent school) and kids on the SC side go to ILES. They are building a new ILES behind Bridgehampton, which should help the school's reputation and hopefully increase the value of those SC Bridgehampton homes. ACT 388 is a law that helps keep taxes low on the SC side, but it's hurting those schools. See below. People complain about the higher taxes in Meck Co, but there are some great schools to show for it.
