My husband's company is possibly moving us to the Charlotte area. I currently live outside of Augusta, Georgia about 2 hours away.

Here are some of our needs..

We would want to rent a home at least 3 bedrooms in a good school district. I'm not sure what part of town he would work in yet, so I'm just looking around at the different areas. We want to live near a large, active, Christian or Baptist church, possibly one with a contemporary service. Teaching straight from the Bible. Lots of activities (women's ministries, children's programs etc)

We would need a great daycare facility or possibly a nanny (I'm not sure what hours we will be working..so a nanny may be the best options for us).

We have one daughter in school. She takes dance and wants to cheerlead.

A great pediatrician with afterhours clinics (for sick appts) at night and on weekends. A great OB, perinatalogist, and hospital capable of delivering high risk pregnancies.

We do like to be near shopping but we don't have to live right in the hustle and bustle. We don't mind driving a bit to get to the mall and resturaunts.

Any thoughts? Or websites I can check out?

Start doing word searches of this site and you will find many answers to those questions. I've learned a lot about Charlotte over the last 2 months by doing that

hey GeorgiaPeachie....

You can see by other post's of mine, I live and am a big fan of the Lake Norman area... I suggest you look in to it as a possibility. There are towns that encompass this area, Mooresville, Davidson, Huntersville, Denver, Cornelius, etc.

Davidson, Huntersville, Cornelius are in Mecklenburg County- that equals Mecklenburg County School District

Mooresville is in Iredell County and has 2 school districts, Mooresville Graded and Iredell-Statesville

Denver is in Lincoln County and has Lincoln County Schools...

Lincoln County and Iredell County taxes are half of what they are in Mecklenburg county.

The Lake area is great! Good housing, reasonable, right on or around the lake, and good schools. Shopping is good, as this area is booming and we do have many churches...

I live in Mooresville, we have a GREAT Baptist Church near me, that lot's of friend attend ...http://www.peninsulabaptist.com/index.cfm

If you'd like more info. just let me know I can give you websites to check out...stuff like that! Good Luck!

To balance out the advice given, I will suggest south Charlotte. Everything you mentioned wanting is there, and more. Schools are the best overall there too. In addition, I think you would find Calvary Church offers Bible based services and MANY opportunities for fun and fellowship.

OH and here's a great website for looking into the school districts, you can compare Mecklenburg, to any of the others you might be considering...since Mecklenburg predominantly covers Charlotte and ALL of Mecklenburg county:
