Any new developments going on with the intermodal port going up in CLT?

Seeing the prosperity and stability it would bring to our region, I was a little disappointed to read that SC is jumping on the bandwagon - which would directly compete with the efforts of CLT planners:

Ports Authority to consider Upstate inland port

it's not really competition for Charlotte. If you drive south on I 85, Greer is one of the communities between Spartanburg & Greenville. The BMW plant that we refer to as being in Spartanburg is actually in Greer.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts .

Actually, I see this as an oversaturation of the transportation market, for a great deal of commerce is already handled by Atlanta, in what is the world's busiest airport. Same goes for Port Savannah - though the Port of Charleston is poised to position itself nicely, if (promised) improvements are made.

I had hoped that CLT would've picked up some of Upstate SC's business - for there's little manufacturing that goes on in the CLT Metro area.

There's a lot more manufacturubg in Greenville/Spartanburg because of the BMW plant. They are probably planning to float cars to Charleston. They already have an airport. This is for something that would not be flown. My guess is cars.
