I was recently in an automobile accident in Charlotte where I was rear ended. My brand new truck with just over 3,000 miles on it suffered rear end damage and damage to the rear axle. I haven't received the estimate from the third party's adjuster yet but the truck is at a local body shop now.
I know that I'm pretty early in the process but I'm concerned about a diminished value problem due to the damage. Does anyone here have experience in this arena or could point me in the right direction?
I know that this is handled differently from state to state. Do you know how your friend successfully did this? Did she have hire a private appraiser or an attorney?
No attorney. She just talked to the insurance company.
I don't know which insurance company she had.
I just remember being surprised that it was so easy.
Unless your policy covers total replacement cost, more reason for Gap Insurance. And don't buy it from the dealer either. Shop around and get quotes. As your vehicle ages, the price of the original premium goes down.
