I know this isn't a York Country thread, but I had to post about this awesome experience I had today with the family. I told Sweetie this year that I wanted to get a real tree and forego the artificial Martha Stewart (pre lit). I did a quick search on Google and got some suggestions from co-workers and found Penland Christmas Tree Farm just 20 miles away in York, SC. Penland Tree Farm Let me tell you, it was worth the short drive.

From the minute you drive up and see all of the trees you will think you've gone to the north pole. It is a choose and cut farm and me not being the handiest of people was a bit concerned, but it was a cinch. They give you a map of the farm and you walk among at least 6 different varieties of trees. We decided on a Mint Pine and it is delightful. My house smells wonderful We got a 7-8 ft, full and gorgeous tree for $35.00 this same tree in a lot in Ballantyne would have been $90 at least. Cut it at the base and drag it to the road and a truck picks it up. They shake and bale it for you and tie it to the roof and you're off.

For $1.00 you get sticks and marshmallows to roast on the fire, a free hayride around the farm, "treasure shop" for extra goodies, live chickens and also FREE HOT CHOCOLATE.

I can't explain what a great time we had today and for the $$ it's a no brainer. Please go support this local business and family
