I'm new to Charlotte and I've been looking for a good hobby store. Not specifically trains or RC cars, but one that carries a good variety of paints, like Tamiya, Model Masters, Mr Color and Alclad. Also, carrying hobby and model tools. It doesn't have to be IN Charlotte, but somewhere nearby, within an hour or less drive, if possible.
No, Hobby Lobby, Michaels, AC Moore and Hobby Town USA do not suffice. I've looked up a few places and called around but a lot of the numbers are disconnected, I've only been able to get in touch with all of two or three places. I figured that with Charlotte being as large as it is, I wouldn't have a hard time finding a good shop =( Trying to prevent from buying online or calling the store I use to regular back home to ship to me.
Can anyone please recommend a few places with CURRENT contact info? Thanks!

Reason: forgot something
There's a model train store in Spencer, right across the street from the NC Transportation Museum. The name escapes me at the moment. They carry paint & supplies.
Location: The place where the road & the sky collide

The Kings Mountain Historical Museum has their annual train display up. A train club does it. I'd call the museum & ask for contact information for the train club. One of them would know.
Hobby Stop in Rock Hill is a good place to check out. Pretty solid selection the last time I was there.
It seems like most of the good shops have closed. Especially those that cater to R/C.
Even though you don't want to order online, Tower Hobbies is a one-stop shop for many hobby supplies. I have used them many times in the past when they had parts in stock and I could have them in a couple days versus a couple weeks that the LHS would have taken.
I had called around and did notice that most of them are closed =( I was hoping there was somewhere in town that I could get to quickly. I will try the store in Rock Hill since it isn't far, as well as try the train club to see where they shop. I remember calling that John's place and I do believe they're out of business =( Thanks again!
