I'm sure many of you have seen this in the news some time ago. My 21 year old daughter was the victim of a "road rage" hit and run on 485 inner loop at mile marker 54.5 back on September 19th at 1:38 pm. She was left trapped in the car for 45 minutes and when she was finally removed, she had two punctured and collapsed lungs, three fractured vertebrae in her neck, a lacerated spleen, bruised liver, three broken ribs, a broken right elbow and many other smaller injuries. She was admitted into the hospital and they had to induce a coma and paralyze her for over two weeks. While she was comatose, the fractures in her neck caused a dissection of her carotid artery which in turn caused a stroke. The stroke event probably was happening over three or four days during which at that time encompassed almost the entire right side of her brain. She will never be the same again and is still in the middle of a recovery that will go on for years.

According to an eye-witness, the culprit hit my daughter's car in the rear driver's side of her vehicle while she was attempting to change lanes (with her left directional on). There was a driver and a passenger in the vehicle (a light colored or silver SUV). He purposefully accelerated into her, hitting her rear fender, switched into the right lane during contact never touching the brakes and sped off. This is called a "pit maneuver" that is frequently used and practiced by the police in car chases. There are a lot more details I'm somewhat hesitant to add at this time but needless to say, this accident is definitely 100% this other persons fault.

This is a shot in the dark and I'm not expecting anyone to be able to help but right now, I'm desperate as the Highway Patrol seems to have stopped working the case and they seem to have given up.

Please if anyone has any insights or can help in any way....there is a $2000 reward for any information leading to an arrest.

The reason we are so desperate is in this state, if the other vehicle in the accident isn't caught, her automobile insurance said they will not cover any of the medical costs and at this point, if they do, it will be minimal and not even a drop in the bucket.

Anyone with ANY information, please reach out to me. You can find more about this story on her website.... www.helpforchristina.com.

Again, shot in the dark but we need a hail mary pass at this point.

Thank you in advance for any help.

Wow..... My heart goes out to you and your family. It's really a shame that this happens all the time it seems in Charlotte. Something really needs to be done about this. How can a human being hit another, keep on going and leave them for dead...... That's just insane to me. Just really shocking

Very sorry to hear this and I hope they catch the responsible party.

For anyone reading this, a good time to check your car insurance policy to make sure you are covered for this situation (underinsured and uninsured motorist coverage).

I am so sorry to hear about your daughter, and I really hope that someone is able to help out. I'll keep an eye and ear out for anything and I'm going to pass this message around to people I know. I hope everyone will do the same.

To follow up with what Gumbo said aside from checking your insurance, we should all make sure and be more considerate when we're driving. I see on an almost daily basis a total lack of consideration for the "laws" of the road - which is basically tantamount to a total lack of consideration of human life.

I'll be praying for your daughter and really hope that the driver gets caught.
