Atlanta-based Novare Group, Grubb Properties and Batson-Cook Development Co. are planning a $63 million, 23-story apartment tower in uptown Charlotte at the intersection of North Church and West 10th streets.

The project, still in its planning stages, is called SkyHouse Charlotte and would feature approximately 320 residential units. Novare developed the Avenue and Catalyst residential projects in uptown Charlotte and has teamed with Batson-Cook to begin work on SkyHouse apartment complexes in Atlanta; Raleigh; Houston and Austin, Texas; and Orlando, Fla.

I hate the cartoony looking rendering in that link. A building just like this one was announced for Raleigh last year; here is the Raleigh twin's look.

I think this is the streetview location of where this building will be built.

^^^This area of North Tryon has some "issues", but I'm glad to see the gentrification efforts that are being made (as well as the major one that is on the way)..

That's really great news. It looks like Charlotte is going through another construction boom, but with apartments now. I should also add that construction of the Childress Klein apartments will start next week:

This building will be overlooking the new Romare Bearden park and baseball field.

It's already the start of 2013, and I'm wondering what other projects will be announced between now and the end of the year. Would be nice if we could get another skyscraper project too.

I like the design of the first Novare/Grubb building. The Childress Klein building is kinda boring and nondescript in comparison. I wish they would be a bit more innovative as that look has grown a bit tired.
