I was just looking at the map trying to figure out where to go for a drive, and I see some strange stuff on Lake Norman - several spits of land going across the lake where I know there is no land! Did the lake level drop 50 feet or what??
It's indeed messed up. LOL. I think I see what is wrong. Looks like their map software is trying to reconnect the roads that were separated when the lake was flooded.

That's interesting. Switch to satellite view for a totally different perspective.
I wonder if this mapping project they're doing at Davidson has something to do with it. If they're using Google Maps to geocode the old addresses, could the map be picking up those old addresses under the water?
I clicked on "report a problem" to Google maps. I don't expect to get feedback, but they should fix it.
The actually are quite good. There are two streets with similar names in Charlotte that have contiguous numbering. Meaning they don't overlap. The names of the streets are Cemetery and Cemetary.
Google had them both as Cemetery because obviously the other is wrong (it isn't). They fixed it. Must drive USPS crazy.
Google is very good about fixing errors. I can attest.
