I read your post and all I could think of is - did I start this thread? I just had 11 sweet gums taken down and 2 bradford pears and my lawn needs to be redone as well (and I'm in Matthews to boot). My sweet gums were clustered in a natural area and one bradford pear was in the middle of the yard and 1 was in the back yard so I do have green in my front yard. It just doesn't look that good. I had my work done on New Years Eve day. My back yard has no grass, but it's mostly wooded - I only had a little strip of grass and I'm toying with just making the whole thing a natural area with mulch because I'm keeping the rest of the trees back there. Please update with what you find either here or you can send me a message. I haven't done much in the way of research because I know this isn't the right time of year. I'd like to get some weed control for now, and then have grass worked on in the fall.
