I did a citi-data post search for daycares in the area and did not find anything that could help me. I am posting a new one in hope that someone might be able to recommend a place.

Last Friday my husband and I both took the day off and 'attempted' to visit daycares, but unfortunately the weather had different plans. I had a list of places to visit, but unfortunately, since the weather was bad, most places were either closed - or getting ready to close.

Out of 6 daycares on my list, I only made it to 4. Out of the 4, 2 were open, but the babies and caregivers were gone for the day and I was only able to 'tour' the empty classrooms and the other 2 daycares seemed pretty good.

I am looking to see if anyone has any personal experience or have heard any negative/positive about these places all located in Gastonia:

Childcare Network - Union Rd
Cora's Tiny Tots Child Learning Center
First Baptist Church Childcare Ministries
Smart Kids' Child Development
Ur Child Care
Wee Care Day School

So far my favorite is Wee Care Day School - I am really interested in reviews for this place.

We are using Smart Kids on Cox Road and have been very happy. On top of that the location is very convenient to the entire city.

Thanks! This place is also very convenient for me since it's right by 85 - which I take to/from work. I am glad to hear you're happy with it. Unfortunately, they were one of the daycares that was closed on Friday (due to weather) when I stopped by. I hope to visit it again very soon.

Are you looking for full time, part time m/w/f etc?
My daughter goes to one m/w morning, and then a different one friday morning.
First Presby in Belmont is m/w and is great and then we use First Baptist on Friday which my daughter loves.
First Presby has a website with a lot of info, and is a great place, but may not be convenient for you.

I am looking for full-time, Monday-Friday for an infant. He/she is not born yet - I'm due the end of April. I am looking to start daycare around the middle of August. I will check out First Presby in Belmont and see if it's convenient.

Thanks for your comment!

You might want to check at the main library in Gastonia, on Garrison. The reference department is upstairs. One of the ladies there might be able to point you in a direction. It can't hurt.

Hi Southbound! Hope all is well with you!

I already have some places in mind...just wanted to hear if people had personal experience with those specific places. I pretty much narrowed it down to those closest to me or on my route to work.

We used smartkids for about 4months until we moved to Concord. We didn't have any issues with them and the prices were good.

OK, I just thought that maybe they could point you towards something, possibly a regulatory agency that could give you information.

I hope that you're doing OK & found a good place for maternity clothes. I went to Hamrick's "mothership" in Gaffney & asked about maternity clothes there & I was told that they don't carry it. I swear I saw some in Gastonia, though. Maybe it was a fluke.
