That said, for anyone who has moved specifically from Houston or another major city: are you happy you made the move to Charlotte? Why or why not?
Are the people as nice as we've heard? My wife is a nurse and generally nice, polite people help her quality of life a lot.
I have to also mention that my wife and I are gamers, and we spend most nights hanging out with each other playing computer games together or watching television. So I guess the point is that as far as the area goes we're not looking for an incredible night life: we'd seriously be happy with things like a nice place to live in (we think we have this part figured out already based on some recommendations), a nice local movie theater, and a decent amount of good restaurants to go to together/with friends.
Thanks in advance for any experiences/opinions you can share or advice you can give!

I just moved here from Atlanta, and like it very much. While I do miss Atlanta, I'm happy with my decision.
It takes time to adjust to a new city, but I don't think you'd have any problem.
The people have been very nice, so far. I was walking in Uptown with my husband and daughter and was greeted by a lot of people (that never happened in Atlanta) haha.
I haven't even visited all of Charlotte and I'm satisfied with the offerings.
