I can't think of anything good to say about Foodlion. Their stores are depressing in an institutional sort of way, the staff is low class, under trained, and could care less about the customer, I don't trust their perishables & meat, and most importantly, their prices are pretty high for so little. What happened to LFPINC?
European owned Food Lion is a a far cry from when it was locally owned Food Town and it's a shame how far they have fallen.

Well at least they aren't as bad as they could be in that aspect.
Based on my knowledge I would say the survey is pretty accurate. Pathmark has become the worst chain I could name. Acme is shockingly overpriced, worse than Wholefoods, Ralph's is very lacking in variety. The few A&P's left are no better than a 7-11.
I really don't see the big deal in rating stores. Every chain is going to have some sort of spots. I go to the store to buy stuff, not to socialize or spend my vacation. We do most of our shopping at Super Target, but we do shop at FL and HT.
Food Lion stores are fine for what I need them to be. The ones by our house are new or recently remodeled, meaning they are well lit and clean. The meats are just fine (talk about beating a twenty year old horse to death). I really don't think their produce section is the greatest, but it suffices.
I actually prefer shopping there than at the higher priced, pretentious-style stores like Teeter, Publix, etc. Hell, I even buy some food items at Super WalMart if we happen to be there for other stuff.
When I've done the FL receipt surveys I always tell them their employees seldom seem happy, their stores appear unexciting, and the selection is lacking. But their prices are typically lower.
