Can anyone tell me if the apartment complex (outdoor) pools in the Charlotte area stay open year round? If not, what's the typical opening closing schedule?

Also, FL complexes are not required to have lifeguards but NJ requires it. How about NC?

It must be posted if they do not have a lifeguard on duty. Some stay open year around. The ones that do mostly have hot tubs (which by the way is rare now most are just broke all the time so complexes have learned they are a waste of time for the most part)

On the Pool Rules sign there must be a sticker on there stating when the permit ends. Oct. 31st is the usually end date for season permits and May 1st is usually the beginning but I'll have to make sure of the beginning date.

Most are not open year round. We do have fall and winter here. You would not want to be in a pool today. Generally it's later April through the end of September/beginning of October depending on the weather.

Lifeguards are not required at apartment pools. An emergency phone and safety devices are required. Health departments inspect pools 1-2x a year and he results can be viewed at

Thanks for the info guys! I only swim when its really warm -- which as a Floridian means crazy hot to everyone else.

But I have been in NJ for the last year and a half, and it was bizarre... the pool opened July 4th and Closed Labor Day!! And it was 90 degrees in September!!!

We always opened earlier than July 4th....however we used to close on labor day also. I now keep mine open till the date the permit ends which is Oct. 31st so people can still use the grill and what not. But it's closed now.
