What is the average time to find a job do you think? We are thinking of relocating to the area...we have been for a while...but we are wondering about how long it would take for my DH to find a new job.. He has been a Chef for 15 years....

Stacey - I don't know if this is helpful or not. But we have Johnson & Wales here. They may have info on jobs here as well as leads. I was thinking that it may be helpful for you all to contact them and see what type of info and leads they can help you with.

That's a great idea...we also realize that it will be next to impossible for him to find something while we are still in NJ.. Our plan at this point I think is
to sell our house ..my dh will move down to the area by himself to find a job and Our two children and I will stay with my parents until they are done with school then will move down with them....Does that sound too risky?

Stacey, there are a million threads here about how bleak it is right now. Especially the restaurant business...

Unless he's wolfgang puck, I wouldn't take the chance......

Are you prepared to be away from him for possibly 6, 9, 12 + months possibly?

He's going to have to pay rent down here I'd assume....w/no work....can you pull that off?
