I went to the Woodward Dream Cruise in Detroit last week, and while there I had the New Yorker from Buddy's Pizza. It's one of the best pizzas I've had. Can anyone familiar with it suggest a local place to find something similar?

LOVE Detroit style pizza!! Louie's in Detroit is my all time favorite pizza and is slightly better then Buddy's (in my opinion of course!), but to answer your question it's Jet's pizza. They are from Michigan as well and have a few locations around Charlotte. They are a chain and look like a domino's knockoff, but they are legit. They have a deep dish pizza that is about the closest you will ever get down here to Buddy's.

Jet's Pizza

Darn, I hear Buddy's pizza ads when I listen to Detroit radio on TuneIn, and crave Buddy's more than anything. Now I see this.
I agree, Jets is closest I have found, but still not as good as Buddy's.

Jet's Pizza
The New Yorker is a thin crust pie.

I've had Jets, but strangely I like their deep dish much better than their thin crust. Before Jet's I didn't like many deep dish pizzas at all.

Ahh, the thin crust. Never had that before from Buddy's so I guess I can't really help.

If you liked the thick crust from Jet's then you will Love it from Buddy's or Louie's if you ever go back again. Jet's thick crust is pretty much just a cheaper knockoff of those classic Detroit pizza restaurants.
