Hello all,

I am looking for suggestions (roads, trails, parks, scenic areas) for running. I work in the city during the week. I am based out of NYC, so I am new to this area.

Last night I met with the Local running store runners and ran around town.

Looking forward to your suggestions.

If you work uptown, consider the Elmwood cemetary. I run it on my lunch break a couple of times a week. They have nice variety of roads to allow you to do different distances easily.

Mallard Creek/Toby Creek Greenway is nice if you're in the University Area.

Google Charlotte Greenways. Those are your best places to run scenic wise.

Freedom Park/Queens Road West/Booty Loop.

It's one of the best places to run in the southeast.

Beautiful tree lines.

NoDa Brewing Co has a 'run club' that meets every Wednesday @ 6.30pm. Members run and then hit the brewery for drinks afterwards.

Thank you all for posting.

So far I have only been able to head around the Stadium and down into the Dilworth road neighborhood (very cool houses).

I made a list of the above suggestions, and I will run them in the coming weeks.

I'll post my reviews.

Ha, I just noticed your name. I guess you really do like running.

You can also check out Find your people - Meetup. There are several run clubs in the Charlotte area.

The Morehead YMCA aka Dowd YMCA does have a lot of running groups in both the am and pm. People meet outside if you want to give it a try if you don't have a y membership. The Common Market in the plaza midwood area-just off of Thomas Street is another popular place. I think they have a couple runs listed on meetup.

If you want to get off pavement, the McAlpine Greenway Park in South Charlotte off of Monroe Road near Matthews has a really nice 5K trail that is all grass and clay. They have hosted many HS cross country championships. It's nice option if you ever need get off the pavement for a while.
