Hello...
Any recommendations for CPA's who are good at tax and financial planning? I tried couple of CPA's and they seem to be mundane..Need someone who can be bit innovative.

Thanks so much.

It depends... you seem to be looking for tax evasion rather than tax avoidance, which is what a good CPA does.

Creative accounting for an individual usually involves the tax loon type scams where people claim to be ordained ministers etc... or Sovereign Citizens.

You just need someone who has solid skills. I gave you two.

I prefer to just pay my right share of taxes and consider myself blessed that I made enough to help others with my taxes. No creative accounting from me!

Who knows, in the future any of us could be the one who needs the help from the ones more fortunate...

Sounds more like you want tax evasion than innovative. Any good CPA will take your circumstances and devise a plan for your future without risking their license.

You should also know that although you might find some accountant willing to compromise, they are also smart enough to cover themselves so the CPA is always coming out clean - since it is your liable signature on the return. Saying you did not know, it will not absolve you (it is our duty as tax payers to inform ourselves).

Be very worry about some of "creative accounting" practices, since it can get you in hot water many years after it is done. And you'll then pay penalties + interest + possible criminal investigation...not worth it.

Thanks for the responses.
Its interesting how the post has been interpreted- the more appropriate word would have been thorough understanding of taxing principles. Let me shed some light... I had a coworker who was an immigrant. Her father used to come and stay with them for over a period of time. Their tax filer had them apply for itin from IRS for her father - of course it goes through embassy approvals in their home country and then comes to irs here. Finally they were able to get some kind of deduction for his stay here. What I have found out is there were some CPA's who were aware of this deduction and some were not.
Anyway my "creative accounting" does not equal to any penalties/interest/investigations - its a headache and not worth time and effort. We have enough things in my life to worry about

Innovation and Public Accounting should not be included in the same sentence.
