What are some good career-change options? (Charlotte: good schools, community college, costs)

And what are some good schools in the Charlotte or surrounding areas that offer them? I wanted to go to UNC Charlotte for a medical coding program, but not only does it costs too much (I have to pay out of pocket based on past decisions and it was a continuing ed course that didn't offer traditional financial aid anyway), but I didn't want to go broke over something that I heard it is hard to get work in without having one or two years experience.
If there is something one can take in six months or less in order to get a new career that one could break into relatively quickly and that pays well offered in the Charlotte-metro area, PLEASE let me know. I could probably swing a year, but even that's pushing it, seeing as how I pretty much needed something yesterday. Thanks!
Sounds like you need to look into some Community College options at CPCC. Maybe an IT certificate if you are interested in computers or a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant type designation. I understand both of these have some demand.
