So I've looked on care.com but I'm feeling a little overwhelmed. I have a little bundle of joy who will be 2 weeks old tomorrow. I have until the middle of April to find someone to watch after her when I go back to work. My husband and I are preferring to go a part-time nanny route because of our work schedules (I work 4-10hr shifts/wk and he is home before 2pm every day). Has anyone had good experience with any nannies that they would recommend? Or a particular service you found a nanny through? We would also like someone who would be willing to have taxes withheld- so that may be easier through a service. Thank you in advance for your help!

Please check Babysitter.com - this has helped me in the past. If you find one make sure you work with her for few days before leaving them independently. Always check references/experiences.

Congrats on the new baby! My 'babies' are grown now and I was fortunate enough to split work time with my husband so we only occasionally needed a sitter.
Have you thought about checking with the nearby pre-schools for recommendations? One of my neighbors is an older lady and she teaches pre-school at a church and then cares for a baby in the afternoons. I think I would have felt more comfortable with someone a little older for my newborns.
FYI - I am in my 50's and don't consider that 'old'. I just don't think I would be comfortable with a very young nanny for a newborn.

Have you tried asking this same question on the Charlotte Mommies board? Also, maybe check with the nursing schools or colleges in the area, there are often sitter services or people trying to pay for college looking for part time work.

Is $11/hour the going rate for a nanny in Charlotte?
Also, does someone here know the charlotte mommies administrator? I applied to join a few days ago but haven't heard so I wonder if their queue is full?
