Info about Kannapolis, used to live in Concord (school, living) - Charlotte - North Carolina (NC) - City-Data Forum

Hi everyone. I'm currently in CA trying to finish grad school. I lived in Concord for 10 months during the mid-90's. I love auto racing and want to live in that atmosphere again.

Can someone fill me in on Kannapolis? What is it like now? I visited the town several times, but I know it has changed due to the medical complex being constructed.

What is it like as far as foreign workers (i.e. illegal immigrants)? I'm sorry to be blunt, but I've had it with them in CA demanding rights and trying to take over. Is it a problem there? I plan on moving to NC for the rest of my life to pursue business, auto racing, and whatever else. I want to live around people who are like me. Not race (I get along well with many people, go out of my way to converse with all people), but I cannot stand living around Asians who shut me out and illegals who are all macho and conceited (for no reason I might add). They earned how I feel about them. I wasn't born this way.

Honest opinions would be great.

I live in Concord and you wouldn't believe the changes as far as growth. The illegal immigrant thing is the same here as in most area. You're pretty much going to see it in any high-growth area. I still love living here, though. I'd recommend Kannapolis. It's going to be changing a lot for the better in the near future, so getting there ASAP whould be advisable before housing prices start going up. Good luck in your search!!!
