With all of this talk about unreasonable congestion in the Charlotte area, I have to ask - where did the complainers live before moving here? Charlotte is the 23rd most populous metro and it ranks 24th in congestion the last time I checked. People move here for the jobs. But plenty of new jobs creates a growing population and growing congestion. You can live in a smaller city/metro that has little growth but it also has few new jobs. And the new jobs are not the high paying jobs that Charlotte is able to capture. There is a reason why people are moving to rapidly growing cities. That is where the jobs are. NCDOT certainly has its problems, but it is keeping NC’s biggest cities’ congestion to reasonable levels. I think the complainers need to chill out and realize that they are not living in Mayberry so there will be some congestion. But anyone that has been anywhere knows that Charlotte’s congestion is not unreasonable. I am sorry it is just not.
