NCDOT has awarded the contract to complete the widening of I-85 from NC 73 to the Rowan/Cabarrus county line to Blythe Construction. Contract is for $187 million. Construction begins in 2015 and due for completion by year end 2017.

After this one, 85 will be a smooth trip all the way from Durham to Gastonia.

Apartments.com ranked Charlotte the No. 2 city for recent college graduates, behind Denver, Colo.
The list was based on factors including affordability, median income and unemployment rates. Developers say millennials who aren't ready to buy houses are flocking to the city, fueling the surge in apartment construction.

Probably posted already but I'm seeing new apartment/condo complexes on 7th and 3 or 4 large ones close to 277N by CPCC.

Goode Properties will develop a 20-acre site near the intersection of Idlewild and Monroe roads in east Charlotte in a mixed-use project that will include 260 apartments and 100,000 square feet of retail, restaurants and offices.

Looks like Quail Hollow moved a lot of dirt this winter to get ready for the PGA tournament in 2016.

BTW, has anyone else ever looked at the difference in the color of QH CC vs. Carmel CC on google maps satellite view? I don't know what they put on the course but I would be afraid of growing a 3rd arm walking out there...

Real estate developers John Crosland Jr. and Allen Tate Jr. will build a 300-room hotel near SouthPark mall, while Levine Properties is seeking rezoning from Charlotte City Council to build a 25-story uptown tower that could house a 175-room hotel and up to 155 apartments.
