Hi, I'm new to this site and I think it is a great source of information, good or bad. I am currently in the Tampa Bay area and thinking of making the move to Charlotte. I am looking for a more Urban lifestyle, as there is little or none here in Pinellas/Pasco County.Tampa is out, way too expensive now. I am single with no children, so schools are not important to me. Any advice on where to start looking? I am a licensed realtor here in a crashing market, probably will get relicensed in Charlotte, but have gone back to my previous career in the restaurant business. Is there a living to be made there ?

You should do well here. Are you looking to live uptown? Most price ranges are represented here in the Charlotte metro area. How much you want to spend depends on a lot. One of our posters, charlotteagent, would be a big help. As far as Charlotte's livability, it's a great area. I don't plan on ever leaving. If you have any specific questions, just post. Good luck in your search!!!

Thankyou friendnc. I have tons of questions, probably all the same as everyone else looking to relocate here. Do you know of any place to rent for a week so that I can look around? I will be coming with my Parents, as they too are looking to relocate If we all like it there. My Dad has been researching Huntersville. I would like to be as close to an Urban environment as possible, meaning, no neighborhoods with Soccer Moms and PTA Meetings. Nothing against that lifestyle, but being childless and husbandless, I don't think I would fit in. I probably should rent first. And I will have to sell my house in this slow as molasses market. Is it possible to spend under $90k for a townhouse? It doesn't have to be new, just looking to be economical as I will be starting all over again. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

It'll be hard to find something in the 90k range in an urban setting in uptown Charlotte. One of our posters, Charlotteagent, would be of more help to you than I would. I know in some of the suburban areas, you can get a nice 90k condo that's in a safe area. A good place to stay for a week would be Suburban Extended Stay Hotel on Speedway Blvd. here in Concord (where I live). It's 15 minutes from uptown Charlotte, nice, clean, and safe, and has TONS of shopping and resaurants around the hotel. I hope your search works out well!!!
