What has more as far as stores, restaurants, entertainment, walking trails, town center, events, etc? How do the 2 compare? Are they modern looking or older? Anything you can tell me about either?

Concord is larger (80K + population) vs Kannapolis (40K+) Concord is 2x the size in area and population.
NW Concord is the newer section of Concord. There are sections near that area zoned Kannapolis that have some newer developments as well.

Concord has Concord Mills Mall and that area has lots of shopping and restaurants in the area

Afton Ridge also has shopping like Super Target, Best Buy, etc. and restaurants like Fatz, Chik-fil-a, etc

Downtown Concord is walkable and has some cute store and restaurants
Concord Downtown > Welcome

Kannapolis is smaller & has a cute downtown area. There is not as much to do there as in Concord but its right next to it so its not difficult to drive to Concord if you want to access its amenities.

Hope that helps!

I lived in Kannapolis for several years so I can try to help you out. Neither city is very modern. For shopping, Concord is famous for the Concord Mills area and there is some shopping on Hwy 29. Kannapolis has shopping at Afton Ridge and some nice little restaurants. Enoodles is fantastic and so is Afton Tavern to eat. Kannapolis is a mill town that has slowly over time revamping its self.
The downtown areas of both cities is not too much to speak of as far as entertainment, etc. Kannapolis is full of non chain, awesome little places to eat that you will find no where else. ( Lee's Sandwich Shop, Varsity BBQ, Lane Street Grill, etc.)

Both towns are mostly made up of blue collar middle classed citizens.

The downtowns are only 16 miles apart, and I'm pretty sure the city limits of each town touch. In other words, they are very close to each other. One can easily drive between the two in a few minutes. Going from one to the other for a special event or festival would not be difficult.
