HI-
I am looking to move to charlotte, and am considering where to live with my 4 young kids (schools are VERY important).
Luckily, I have about 800K to spend due to the ever expanding housing market in the NYC area. Where are the higher end suburbs of Charlotte?

Thanks for the help!! Hope to see you soon!

We relocated from NY in 1998 to South Charlotte...now we live in Union County. I would suggest South Charlotte (Ballantyne in particular, but there are other high end areas as well) or Western Union County areas. I would be happy to help further -- feel free to PM me of you would like. I can send you listings of resales or info on new home communities...
Best of luck to you in your relocation

There are also some terrific homes on lake Norman/Wylie you can get into for that money if that is a life style you would like. That would be a no brainer for me if I had that kind of money but some people aren't into the lake life. SailView, The Pointe, Palisades, Look under Cresent Communities if you want to go that route. crescent-resources.com

Hi Goinsouth,

If you want to stay close in, look at Myers Park and Eastover (28207 zip code). These are the "old Charlotte" neighborhoods with lovely homes and good schools. Happy hunting!

Unfortunately, it's getting to where you can't live in Myers Park, much less Eastover, for under a million anymore! But I do know of a few new in-fill neighborhoods under development close in that are in this posters price range, just in case anyone is interested.

Hi,
What kind of lifestyle are you use to now. if you like living close to the city then Myers Park/ Eastover is the place to be. if you dont mind a little bit of a drive then one of the lakes is a good choice. Also one secret is the west side of Lake Norman. that will be the next big boom and would be a great place to buy now. Many reasons.....the new hwy 16 will get you to downtown or the airport in about 30 or less. I have designed many homes all over Charlotte so please let me know if i can help.

There are some good areas in Western Union county south of Charlotte. You will find many homes in your price range in Marvin and Weddington. Both these areas have excellent schools which are also very new. Both areas have young family with kids. Most of the subdivisions have very nice ammenities as well.
