I saw something make a similar thread about one of the other nearby cities so I thought I'd create one for Huntersville since I'm very interested in possibly moving to this area (from Phoenix, AZ) and am looking to visit this coming year.

So, how would you describe Huntersville in 5 words?

To me it seems like a lovely, family-oriented place with beautiful neighborhoods, but I would love to hear your thoughts, especially from anyone who lives there currently or has lived there in the past.

A town by Lake Norman.

It used to be small.

Many new subdivisions, small roads.

Second largest jurisdiction in Charlotte.

Five sentences with five words.

It's a generic place that's good for anyone to start out in. People like it and stay. Others like it but prefer other parts of Charlotte and its surrounding towns better. I have yet to meet anyone that didn't like it. (I am sure there will be others chiming in the opposite but this is just MY circle that I am exposed to. Not the be all and end all statement)

Progressive
Amenties
Safe
Sexy
Traffic

Progressive: In the past 12 years the area has grown by leaps and bounds from new retail & restaurants, manufacturing like ABB a cable making factory to the expansion of Metrolina Green House, new offices like the corporate office of Electrolux, to new hospital.
Its amazing how much iy has changed since I relocated in 2002, when Birkdale Village shops was in its final construction phase and soon a Wholes Foods will be next door.
Also new home developments are in works and countless have been created since 2002.
New apartment complexes like Colonial Grand with more business under construction across the street.

Amenties: Provides ample life on the water being situated between two lakes- Lake Norman and Mt. Island Lake. New Aquatic Center, New Discover Place for Kids, places to play Tennis, Golf, Softball or Baseball.
IMO it close to best park in Mecklenburg Latta Preserves, where you can not just cookout play volleyball, hike, run, horseback ride, or rent a Segway and my favorite use access point and kayak out on Mt Island Lake.
Every fall for a month is the Renaissance Festival, it a fun event.
Rural Hill Farms often have something going on it just ended Maize Maze and in a few weeks the Sheepdog trials. Also in the Spring is the Scottish Festival-Loch Norman Highland games.
I like the various restaurant choices from gourmet burgers, seafood including Sushi restaurants, steak or Tacos restaurants and bar and wine store restaurants too.
Shopping there is plenty from shopping centers, boutiques, marine, auto parts and dealerships, also retail and restaurants at Birkdale and North Lake mall area.

Safe: No matter if Im in my neighborhood, shopping or hiking. I always feel safe probably feel to safe and it funny when I read the police blotter in the local paper, as I thought they must be just traffic cops as that what most of the incidents listed are.
Sure it had a few incidents in the past mainly from out of town crooks.

Sexy: What I mean by this term as I feel as population as a whole is youthful, well kept appearances and what I believe naturally beautiful.

Traffic: I was so glad even though it took forever to rework Sam Furr to Hwy 115 a couple years go, but amount of traffic on other arteries and new traffic issues due to volume it takes awhile to do simple errands.
Its time to widen Hwy 21 (Statesville Road) and widen Highway 73 beyond Hwy 115 since this where most of new developments are going.

Huntersville is great area that situated in a great location that if one feels the needs to visit or work in Charlotte its a very short commute.
Imo best suburb of Charlotte.
