It's the damn Yankee's we wish would just stay home. (big difference between the two!)

Came here from South Jersey. I've been on the receiving end of unhappy NY metro transplants. It's all in how & when you say things. I've made suggestions to folks after they asked for suggestions & added the remark if it works for you. I've been thanked & they took the suggestion & made it their own. Nothing wrong with making suggestions if you're asked. Complaining & insulating people is a different thing.

I have a lot of ideas why northerners are always complaining about living in the south. For me it is the basic things that I have always been used to culturally. I guess I am used to getting edible chinese food. I guess I am used to stop lights that let more than 5 people through an intersection before turning red. I guess I am used to hiring someone to fix things around the house and actually do the job right. I guess I find it a little weird to be eating breakfast and then see 3 kids walk in with knives and handguns strapped to their waistband. I guess I am used to living in a region that if they knew their schools were failing they would increase the school budget not cut it. I guess I am used to living somewhere the locals do not hate me because I am not like them. I guess I am used to getting good customer service when I call the energy department, dentist, etc. I guess I am used to living somewhere where people are passionate about politics and social issues...not guns...

For those who still do not understand...If you move to NC you should expect either an extreme right wing (fox news) to centric (cnn) person while in the north you find centric to extreme left (msbnc).

Not every place north of the Mason Dixon line fits your description. That's your first mistake.

I would like to know where the heck does he actually lives that he encounters that in his daily living. Are you sure it's North Carolina? lol

I mean seriously, I actually cringe at how nice they are here. (I am a grump. lol) But I do respond in kindness back albeit grudgingly. I had all sorts of things fixed around my house and then they fixed something else for free. (last week with my fridge) I always get kindness from my doctors and kids doctors on the phone and they actually call me back unlike back in Miami. Heck I am amazed still that I can get a hold of a live person AND make an appointment the same week. (months in Miami)

Traffic is not bad here at all as I had to deal with tourists and crazy hour long traffic in Miami so I can't really compare there. I do have minor complaints, but I would take NC anytime.

I haven't seen kids armed with guns and knives. It wouldn't bother me though, as I myself am a believer if arming yourself.

I am not saying Charlotte is paradise on Earth. But by his description, I can't help but think how polar opposites our experiences are. I can try and "blame" the OP (Navy) but I am a bit grumpy with a ***** resting face and still get service. That's why I asked exactly where does he live? I am really curious now.

Never been there. And according to the map, 20 miles North of Charlotte? I guess that's one city I won't want to visit! Funny how different life can be 45 miles apart. (I am way down South of you)
