We are looking into schools for our elementary school age daughter. From what I have researched, in NC the best school system would be Mooresville Graded and in SC, Fort Mill schools. Any experience with either one or comparisons between the two would be appreciated. Also, any other input would be helpful.

You must live in the district to enroll the student so I assume you are comparing the home options as well as the schools. After that, do you truly want to live in South Carolina? There are advantages to North Carolina. College options, tax and tuition advantages and, also, to avoid the home of sedition.

Where would the job be located? There's something to be said about commute times.

Parts of Fort Mill are experiencing massive amounts of homes being built, and the infrastructure is not being built fast enough to keep up with it. Unless you want to wait 15-20 minutes just to get to I-77, I would look elsewhere for now.

Really depends on where you live and what time of day you'll be commuting and where you'll be commuting to. Some of us don't have to get on 77.

I think the same can be said from anywhere in this area (the level of growth).

It takes me 15 minutes to get to work. I live in Fort Mill and work in Ballantyne.

Correct, which is why I used the words 'Parts of Fort Mill'.

it's beyond waiting for 77 at this point, traffic congests all over gold hill and 160 area. i've ran into traffic congestion during non-rush hour more than once.

this part of fort mill is boring for me. it's all subdivisions, traffic, and mediocre shopping and restaurants.
i'm looking forward to moving away from here!

I wouldn't disagree with that. The schools are the only reason I am still in Fort Mill. Once my kids graduate, I'm out too.

Glad you asked this question. I'm in NJ and hoping my husband will be able to find a job in the Charlotte area soon. I've been researching online and also torn between Moorestown and Fort Mill. Seems like people choose NC because of the colleges. I will be following this thread.
