College Downs, Charlotte, NC neighborhood info, experiences (house, safe area)

Moving to a house in College Downs subdivision and would like to hear what others think/ know about the area/ neighborhood and Charlotte in general.

About me: Grew up in a military household & married into one, so I can adapt to pretty much any environment. No children yet but will home school when we have some. Work from home & not really in need of public transportation.

What I really would like is opinions and experiences of those familiar with the area or Charlotte in general.

Lots of box stores. Suburban and not very pedestrian friendly. That part of the University Area is probably more of a half and half mix of college students and young families. Traffic can be rough and frustrating around rush hour daily. Relatively safe area. Not bad.
