I have a boat that I am planning on docking in one of the two big lakes in the area. I haven't made the time to get to either yet, and I would like some constructive opinions on both lakes.

Thanks,
SF

Default Boating

I had the sams questions when I moved into the area. The best advice I received was to spend a weekend on each lake. They both have different characteristics and vary quite a bit.

I choose Lake Wylie as it is not as crowded and definitely not as rough (water condition - not the boaters!). I own a 25' cuddy cabin the weighs 5600 lbs. and once away from the shoreline area Lkae Norman was not the experience I wanted.

Lake Wylie is running out of berths, so that may be a factor in your decision.

Depends on what you're looking for.

You can get peace and quiet at both lakes--essentially any place on Wylie or in many coves of LKN.

LKN is much larger.

If you're looking for entertainment, partying, etc., you'll find more at LKN.

Don't fish so I can't advise on that.

Lake Wylie seems more rural, while LKN is more, well not urban, but more, I don't know, socially engaging?
