Hello, I was wondering if anyone knows the approx drive time from
to the Lake Norman/Charlotte area from the Greensboro airport?

We were planning on taking a long weekend to check out your
area but the best airline deal is in to Greensboro, not Charlotte.

Thanks for any help you guys can give me.

Rachael

From N. Charlotte/Lake Norman it can be done in about an hour. I'm sure you're referring to skybus.

Really? That doesn't seem too bad.

It's a $99 roundtrip through Continental.... they were offering Charlotte and Raleigh too up until a few weeks ago, but we weren't ready to go then.

Thanks,

Rachael

Skybus (http://www.skybus.com - broken link)

Charlotte a few years ago was more expensive than Greensboro and Greenville. With Jetblue, Charlotte became cheaper. Now that Skybus' second hub is Greensboro (their main one is Columbus, OH), prices are going down again in Greensboro. How can you beat $10 for a one way flight?

$10? Your kidding! I'm pretty excited about $99 round trip from Jersey. It would cost me 4x that in gas to drive down and back.

Nope. They fly "close to main cities" but there a few options near NJ/NYC.

I checked them out.... great prices $35 round trip from both airports near me. They are about 1 1/2 hrs drive, but could be worth it depending upon what else is being offered. Soonest flights are in March.

Thanks for the suggestion!

Skybus out of Greensboro is going to be really big, I think! Greensboro is not all that much farther time-wise, esp. if you are on the north side of Charlotte -- Cabarrus County, too. I'm in South Charlotte and it takes me 30 min to get to CLT.

Compare the time it takes you to get to CLT and the long security lines, time spent parking and waiting for a shuttle bus, and flying out of Greensboro looks pretty good! Skybus is going to fly a lot of places out of Greensboro, including, I think, Niagara, Portsmouth NH, Stewart (NY) and several places in Florida. We are going to fly them to Gulfport in a couple of weeks. I'll post a review.

I'm excited about this new option for travel; seems like fares out of CLT are really high.
