It is more because of the ice. Even Colorado closes schools if there is too much ice on the ground.

Our school, and most the other private schools, are open.

The one thing that does totally irk me is how the local news coverage goes on and on while I just want to watch the TODAY show.
There is a dusting of snow and it is raining, we got it already.
I was in the office at 5.55 am and had no trouble getting here.

Last year on February 1st, this same situation happened. From what I have read, there were about 300 accidents in Meck alone. It isn't the fact that it is only an inch of snow/ice/slush, and it isn't the drivers...it's just that the county/state does not have enough resources to keep up with the roads. Hubby said that the number of trucks Meck has is less than the number of trucks we had in our little town up in CT. Having more just does not justify the expense.

The road conditions were fine for me on my commute this morning - just very wet.

One random observation that puzzled me... why do some folks not clear off their car windows when they are covered with snow, ice, or slush? How can the driver see to drive? I was in a little pack of 4 cars this morning that had used their wipers to clear their windshield, but had left the entire back window covered with the snowy mix. Even if you didn't have a snow brush, you could have wiped it off with whatever you had on hand - a towel, a newspaper, etc (yeah, it would have been soggy, but still better than nothing!). Leaving all of that mess up to your rear window defroster just didn't make sense to me...and seems very unsafe as well.

Off my soapbox now!
