I am moving to Charlotte from Milwaukee WI. I'm looking for a job now but I already set it in my mind that if I don't get a job by February I'm going to start planning to move to Charlotte anyway with the hopes of getting a job when I get there. I am trying to look online at different apartments but I'm not sure what area I should be focusing on. Ideally I would want to live near my job but if I have to move down there without a job I don't know what neighborhoods would be ideal. I am in my mid 30's, single with no children. I am willing to pay $800 - 1200 a month in rent but it's hard to pick an apartment since I don't have a job so I don't know if there is a specific area and Charlotte that is kind of centrally located that I could be focusing on. I don't have any friends or family in Charlotte so central, safe locations would be ideal. Any tips you could give would be extremely helpful. Thanks.
Extremely difficult question to answer. What kind of work are you looking for?
I suppose the best bet is to get as close to Uptown as possible, that way you'll be centrally located and a more or less equal distance to everywhere. You should be able to find something in your budget in Elizabeth, Chantilly or Plaza Midwood.

Thank you. I tried reposting it in the Charlotte board but it was deleted for being a duplicate post. I work in HR. I was a recruiter for 10 yrs and now I work for a managed service provider, managing a contingent workforce program.
You might want to ask the mods to move your post to the Charlotte board.
It sounds like you have a pretty good chance of working in either uptown or Ballantyne. You may want to consider living somehwhere in between the two, like Southpark, or near one of them.

Hi there! I am an HR recruiter as well and just got a great job in South Charlotte and I'll be moving from the Boston area in January. You should check out the Charlotte Area Society for Human Resources Management website. The link to their careers page is below. There are also a few groups on LinkedIn as well for HR professionals in Charlotte. I hope this helps and best wishes to you!
