Forbes Magazine just ranked Charlotte NC as the 9th most miserable city. Rankings are based on unemployment, personal income tax rates, commute times, weather, crime and the presence of toxic cleanup sites.

We were up there with Detroit MI, Flint MI, Stockton CA, New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, Los Angeles, Modesto CA and Providence RI.

Look out everyone, we are now a world class city, ranked up there with all the big ones.

According to Forbes, 'Charlotte has undergone tremendous economic growth the past decade, while the population has soared 32%. Employment growth has not kept up with population growth, unemployment rates are up more than 50% compared with 10 years ago. Charlotte scored in the bottom half of all six categories. It scored the worst on violent crime."

Dern.

I thought I lived in Charlotte, land of misery.

I must be living in La La Land.

I better email my friends right quick, and let them know that Forbes Magazine has assessed our quality of life and we were just too ignorant to know how miserable we were.

Thanks, Forbes, for that clarification.

Let's see . . . Hearst Publications . . . corporate offices . . . Charlotte . . . Hmmmm. Wonder how that all fits together.

Default Ps

I do agree that Charlotte has grown too fast. That growth has triggered the crowded schools, crowded roads and developers who have plopped houses all over the countryside.

So yes, Charlotte has grown too fast.

Don't despair. In six months, everything will be totally switched around. It was only two years ago when Charlotte was one of the most walkable, livable, safest, and cleanest cities. Oh well, with all the bad stuff, maybe housing will be really cheap to buy as things go down the tubes.

Maybe people without jobs will think twice b/f coming here and assuming they can get one. Very risky business and I am sure misery has occurred b/c of making this mistake.

Shoot, Whytewulf, you cannot abandon us. All Texans are honorary natives here, didn't you know that? No going back now - rain or no rain.
