Can anyone recommend fine dining restaurants in the Charlotte area that are not in Uptown? We like steak, fish (not raw), Italian, Southern and Northern cuisine. We like a glass of wine with dinner and would like to be able to DRESS UP without looking totaly out of place. Quiet is better. We definitely are NOT looking for family dining. A place where more men are wearing a sport coat or suit and tie than not and (oh we love our grandchildren but) would prefer not to have to deal with other people's children when we are dining out--so few or no children would be better. We are in Indian Trail, which of course has nothing. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks, Thia

Will be up there in a month so have not tried these but have done a lot of research - hopefully someone can validate these recommendations:

- Gallery in the Ballantyne Resort and Table in the same general area. And maybe Sterling's. Have read good reviews on all three...... Think all three have websites you can check out.....................

Not much but at least a start

Haven't been to Sterlings, but have heard good things. Sugar Magnolia in Blakeney is supposed to be quite good as well. There is a Ruth's Chris Steakhouse in the Southpark area which is fantastic!

You'll find excellent food and a quiet, dignified atmosphere at Carpe Diem in Elizabeth.
