A friend just introduced me to zillow. Man, is our house wrong. The price is probably about right, but it has the wrong lot size, number of bedrooms, schools and square footage.

Yeah, we have had this discussion on the forum in the past. My square footage is wrong on the listing they have, too - and some of the description is wrong.

So you are not alone, lol.

My wife drives me up a damn wall with that site. She's constantly checking it and lamenting their estimated value of our house.

Thumbs down It's zad.

Two houses across the street from me. One belongs to HOA president who is a general contractor. His house is big, beautifully customized, and has a pretty yard. Zillow values it less than the cookie-cutter house next door that has less square footage and smaller lot size . . .

You can take ownership of the listing and revise the incorrect data...

Tell her that her concern about the value of her house should be measured in how much pride she has in owning her own home, and being able to provide for a family with a stable home environment, and not what a random website tells her what it's "worth," especially since it's actually worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

If the square footage on Zillow is wrong, check to make sure your county doesn't have the same number. In Mecklenburg you can check online. The county had our square footage too high and I was able to reduce the tax assessment by proving the correct number was smaller.

Most of the values I have checked on Zillow are way too HIGH compared to the sales price when it sold. My house is worth about $100,000 less than zillow's estimate.

And the fastest site to do that at is Real Estate Lookup

And Polaris can be used to browse maps and zoom in on properties: " + theTitle + "

Zillow values my house at $49k-$427k. That's helpful. LOL.
