Hi
Both of my girls were just accepted to Langtree Charter in Mooresville for the 2015-2016 school year. They are currently in Mooresville Graded elementary schools which I am very happy with. One has a learning disability and IEP and the other is doing well. Can anyone provide any good, bad, or other review of Langtree Charter in Mooresville? I am concerned with the lack of extra-cirriculars at the school so any reviews would be helpful. Thanks so much everyone.
Here are some reviews and about 3 of them are from December. People will only review when they have complaints but they are worth taking a look at to see what it could be like if you decide to switch your kids.
I say if you're happy where you are don't leave. My son attended Cabarrus Charter for one year which is owned and run by the same company. He's not there anymore and is in our assigned public school.
I am curious, you say you are very happy with MGSD,yet you applied to a charter school? What makes you think a charter would be any better than your current school?

I would guess if the poster has a child with learning disabilities and IEP plan, they are likely always considering what alternatives are available. I have a child with learning disabilities and IEP plan, and while I love our school, I know that in some other educational environments he would likely not need some of the services he currently needs in a public school. It's simply not possible for most schools with so much attention needing to be focused on testing to be able to provide individual education for students that may need a more specific/alternative learning environment. I personally find that it is important to constantly evaluate his environment, his abilities, and educational goals to make sure they are aligned in his current school. I would recommend reaching out to the school for a personal visit with the EC teacher, as well as ask if they have any parents with children in the EC program who are willing to share their experiences within the school.
HI,
I am new to the area so I am just checking out all of our options since we were accepted to Langtree. I do not assume charter schools are any better at all, I just wanted to put the question out here to get opinions. One of my children has a learning disability and and IEP so that is one reason I would hesitate to move to a different school at this point.

Charter schools CAN be better and very accommodating for IEP's and LD's. My child goes to Langtree and has a 504. The school is working out pretty well so far. I am not sure what extra curricular activities you are looking for, but Langtree does have some. My child doesn't participate due to other commitments, but I read about things going on all the time that I didn't even know about.
