Interesting... I was just about to post a thread asking how can a person go about finding out which apartment areas are safe such as finding out how much crime, how many incidents, etc. has happened in each apartment complex for those who are looking to move to the Charlotte area.
Please give me and the OP some resources that we can check out so that we can know where to look. Thanks!

got to give us an area. Charlotte is a big spread out city. lots of good info on this board, but you gotta narrow your search some
I have to laugh, y'all, and I'm sorry. But, you're on a website called City Data, and asking on the forums where you can find some city data. Go to the main site and search!
But seriously. That aside, if you can be more specific in terms of general area and price range, people on the forum can be super helpful.
As for price range... as inexpensive as possible and a one-bedroom or even studio apartment (I'm a single guy). So I suppose anywhere from $500 to $700 a month I guess, but I don't want it to be in a ghetto area either. I'm thinking south Charlotte area, preferably.

You are not going to find an apartment in a safe area for that price especially in south charlotte. I scoped out many places when I moved here a few years ago and last year when I was thinking of moving out of my current complex. When I moved in, my rent was $895 and I live in south charlotte. The prices have gone up since then. Also an acquaintance asked me about places for her son. He had a similar price range and in the end she told me the only good safe places he could find were 800 and above.
When I first moved here I looked up zip codes and used crime sites (spotcrime, crime mapping) and city data (forum search) to ascertain the safe areas. I also used apartmentratings.
If you only want to spend 500-700 it will be best to find a roommate or shop the room sharing section of Craigslist. Sure, you'll have to weed through a bunch of weirdos and ads, but there are legitimate opportunities that would work on there too.

What part of the city is the job in? That would narrow things down.
