Hi, we are a family of 4 moving to Charlotte from Atlanta in October. The problem is that I can't find anything I like for sale for under $550K. Please help with any neighborhood suggestions using 2016 home values, as all I find on City Data are old values/when things were cheaper.

Seeking:
Union, South Mecklenburg or Fort Mill
3,800+ sf - all brick (no siding on any homes in neighborhood and only side entry garages)
Pool neighborhood (lots of young kids)
No more than 16+/- miles from Uptown Charlotte (so no Indian Land, Waxhaw, etc.)
Commute to Uptown Charlotte of 45 minutes or less.

Picky, I know...this is a tough one. Thanks in advance for your help!

Can you find one that meets all your criteria that's above your price range? That's some extremely specific criteria. You may have to give on something.

In the market here (talking Fort Mill where I live), that's very specific criteria and it's going to be hard to find something.
There were some houses in my neighborhood -- Regal Manor, specifically in the Stanton Heights neighborhood that meet most of your criteria. Look up Abilene Lane, Fort Mill (29715 zip code) for the listings. The houses on that street meet your criteria. We're right on the NC / SC border.

Good luck!

Also see if there are any foreclosures that you might be able to take advantage of.

Because you are so specific, make sure to use an accurate website to keep up to date on new listings. Realtor.com does tie directly to our MLS system. Stay away from Zillow, as our MLS doesn't directly feed into that site anymore so you may risk missing out on a good home. I would have someone place your desired features into a portal search that will update you immediately should one come on the market.

Hunter Oaks is just on the other side of Mecklenburg County, but in Union. I think it meets your requirements. There are sections that have all brick homes, no siding. Check it out, it has great schools, not a bad commute, and lots of kids/pool. It's a great established neighborhood. Good luck on your search!

Don't be scared off that Hunter Oaks has a Waxhaw mailing address. It's actually in Unincorporated Union County, about five miles north of Village of Waxhaw. Western Union County only has zip codes for Matthews (28104), Waxhaw (28173), Indian Trail (28079), or Monroe (28110).

Hunter Oaks is awesome! We love it! My wife and I both work in Uptown and our commutes are less than 45 minutes. I leave early enough that mine is about 25 most days.

This isn't Atlanta. Try again in ten to twenty years.
