I don't get why there are signs on Graham St. pointing to the place...like small DOT signs which lead one to believe it's a museum or some other community place. I had no clue what it was, but always assumed it was something for kids or such. Oops.
[quote=the 7 oh 4;4751238]I think it is about to take off...I know that a new club called "Garden & Gun Club" is opening in the NC Sound Factory at 820 Hamilton St. Grand opening will be Friday Sept 5th. Venue will be...House, Breaks, Jungle, Tribal, Underground.

I also want to add that the Garden & Gun Club is a place that will promote diversity and tolerance. Whether you are straight, gay, white, black, asian, etc this will be a place where everyone can come together, get along, and have a great time.

Odd name for a club. Also, when I Googled Garden & Gun Club I came up with a gay bar in Charleston.
Seems that now that the Seabord extension is open we have ourselves a new entertainment district for Charlotte. Especially when you consider that the Factory's owners have signed with Los Angeles-based Live Nation Worldwide Inc., the world's largest concert promoter, to schedule events for the district. Here is the artcle in the LA Biz Journal:
"Los Angeles-based Live Nation will schedule as many as 180 concerts each year at the development’s 2,000-seat concert hall and up to 30 concerts annually at its 5,000-seat outdoor amphitheater.
“It’s a major coup to have the largest concert promoter in the world working with us,” says Rick Lazes, chief executive of Cornelius, N.C.-based ARK."
Among the clubs scheduled to open are Butter, an exclusive nightclub/lounge in which some of the hottest entertainers frequent in the only other location, Manhattan. Also on the list is Crobar.
Unless you were going to a concert at the new venue, I have hard time seeing this as a real destination for bargoers and clubbers.
Its somewhat removed from Uptown so you lose the "urban" downtown feel and it's still relatively hard to find.
IMO, I don't see the bar scene really moving over here, nor do I see them getting a critical mass of people to give the bars that "crowded feeling" that most people want went going to these types are bar. Unfortunately, I suspect that many of the bars and clubs will end up homogeneous, with a more "alternative" or "minority" clientelle. Not that it's bad per se, but I doubt the owners will be able to achieve the diversity in clientelle that they are looking for.
I think many people who go uptown to go out, want to be uptown, not someone hidden away behind some silos in the 4th ward.

I think if the residential population of this area increases, we could see a very nice crowd!!! Many people could walk to this area from their condos. Without a serious increase in the residential population, I think you are dead on!!!
Recently checked it out. Seems like a great place. I believe that some creative transportation project needs to be set up to get patrons. It is in a very awkward place and difficult to drive or walk there. Maybe a shuttle will eventually be scheduled or a walkway set up. Hope it does great, but as far as "location" "location", it doesn't seem to be in the best. I really hope I am wrong.
perhaps they can pick it up and move it to the CATS bus station and move the bus station over there...would be a great compliment to the Epicentre and so easy to get to!
