I live in NW Charlotte, and I'm looking for some hip-hop dance classes for my 11-year-old son. I called Ms Donna's School of Dance nearby (my search on the net yielded few results, unfortunately), but the classes are mostly girls. My daughter goes to ballet/ tap there, and I'm not really sure if the teachers can really get down when it comes to hip-hop.

Any recommendations on some real hip-hop classes? Anywhere in CLT and surrounding.

Thanks so much!

They are offering Hip Hop classes in Pineville from May through August for $7.00 per session and registration is tomorrow.

Pineville, NC :: Town Departments :: Parks and Recreations :: Classes (http://www.pinevillenc.net/departments_parks_classes.html - broken link)

I happened to notice this in today's paper

I am not living in the area yet, I will be in about 6 weeks, but I am not sure how far Denver is from you. There is a studio there called Starstruck. My neice has been taking dance there for years. She is in hiphop class and they are really good. I am sure there are a couple of guys. But the thing is the guy that is teaching them was in the "So You Think You Can Dance" competition. He just was voted off last time, but he is really good. FYI

Isn't type of dance "expressionistic"? Do they teach this or does one have an image and then fits it to the music/beat?

Don't know--but if you want free lessons they are available in the street all around Manhattan and Brooklyn. Albeit, the commute can be expensive.

Only kidding about the free stuff but would love to know about my first question.
