We are looking at a house in area code 28215. It's off Harrisburg road, about a mile from I-485. The house is beautiful, but the price is pretty low. Makes us worry the neighborhood may not be so great.

Tell us the neighborhood. Zip codes can be hard to determine

What else can I say? We took I-485 to get there and got off on Harrisburg Road. About a mile down the road was the development. I believe it was called Bristol Farms. It's close to Robinson Church Road.

I know exactly where that is. There have been a few foreclosures over there as well as a few short sales. The neighborhood seems to have a pride of ownership though. Also I believe it is still in development at least a few lots left. Some house sell on upwards to $180K while you can get the foreclosures in the 120K+.

So is it a nice neighborhood? We drove around a few times. Everything seemed cleaned and people were out gardening, so that was a good sign to see people taking care of their homes. Im just nervous about making a mistake.

The area seems nice. I saw the same thing as you described. The only downfall is the amount of foreclosures creeping in. However it does seem as people like yourself are buying there and not just a bunch of investors. As with anything make sure you do as much research as possible. Check to see if you see any For Rent signs. look for sheriff stickers and HUD signs in the windows to make sure there are not any more homes coming up via foreclosure. Get you realtor to see what all has sold recently to make sure you not paying over the top etc etc.

Research Research Research ! Look on the web for criminals living in that neighborhood too ! Especially if you have kids ! I got a child molester living in my neighborhood and never knew about it until I checked on the internet ! They are all over the place though but the registered offenders can be found online !
