Check out Amelies in NoDa. There is one uptown too but I prefer NoDa. It's a little more funky/cool. It's a bakery/restaurant. Your daughter will like it.

If you desire to be downtown, realize it is small. So no one option is that much better than others. It is all walkable. The Epicentre is nice to hang out at. You could also consider Concord Mills area. Much more shopping and dining options. Southpark has high end mall. What kinds of things are you looking at doing while in town. Is this just a visit or are you looking to possible move to Charlotte?

Stay in the airport, they have some nice rocking chairs there - not worth venturing 'uptown' at all, very boring :-) only kidding of course, I always tout the breweries here. Resident Culture, Barrel Culture, Heist, NoDa to name a select few, very pleasant way to spend an afternoon sitting in the sun at NoDa Brewing or Birdsong. In NoDa, visit Jason at Salud's, nice taco shop that way, very small area, but nice to walk up and down, coffee at smelly cat etc. 10 minute drive around uptown you've seen all there is really. Few parks as others have mentioned. Take a drive out to Queens Rd W in Myers Park and surrounding streets for some very, very beautiful houses to gawk at and be jealous :-) Gardens are starting to look really nice this time of year - it's just an amazing area.
Amelies in NoDa is fun per above - my kids love it.

Carowinds will be open. Your teen daughters may like riding the worlds tallest giga coaster! Or heck, even the new Camp Snoopy.

Th levine Museum, Mint museum, Nascar Hall of Fame, Whitewater Center, Carowinds.... all worth checking out.

Southpark Mall will be your safest mall now days. Concord Mills and Northlake are nice, but sketchy at times and have had their share of problems.

NC Music Factory is a great time. It is a little strip of bars and a comedy club that brings in big names. Not real appealing for a teen daughter, but if the adult venture out.

If you are touring the area for places to live. Go drive through Highland Creek in 28269. IT is a large beautiful, very family friendly large community with homes ranging from 200K-500K spanning two counties. Map to Elrond Dr. Charlotte NC 28269 that will put you at about the beginning of the Cabarrus County side. Other Neighborhoods to drive through that are worth considering would be Winding Walk, ,Skybrook, Moss Creek and Cannon Crossing. Those all keep you in Cabarrus County and about a 30 minute commute to Downtown from the north side.

In Charlotte, Id stick to neighborhoods to the south. Dilworth, Southpark, Providence etc.

Charlotte is a nice smaller city to just go get lost in. Drive around see some things. Go through the bad parts west of Charlotte, drive out independence and see all the ugly. That way if you do move there you wont be caught off guard later. A lot of people Move to Charlotte and a few months later start complaining because the didn't realize that Charlotte also has homeless, bad areas, crime, ugly neighborhoods etc. So it is good to see where this stuff is so you can make an educated decision. Overall, Charlotte is wonderful and most families would love to live there. We thoroughly enjoyed it for 6.5 years and still consider going back.

I could give you a lengthy list of things to do as a family, but a short trip in would never provide you enough time to take it all in so I wont overwhelm you. Know this though, all the recommendations you get are similar to each other. Charlotte has a lot more than that, and the area around Charlotte has even more....

Kannapolis used to just be a little town way out. Now they are really getting set to bolster th town up. They aer building a new stadium for the Intimidators Baseball team, They are revamping parts of downtown. They have the Gem Theatre hich is an old fashion movie house and a fun time. They do cruise-ins and car shows there. It is never really talked about much but is actually a fun town to hang out in sometimes.

A lot of people talk about Union County and Waxhaw, indian Trail etc. I personally thing it is the most boring area on earth. Very rural and big box. A long commute out. And the schools are constantly getting rezoned.

Ballantyne is a very trendy hip area. Newer and BUSY
Pineville is a cut small town wedged in the south metro and has some neat areas.
Lake Norman is a great sport/recreation lake to the north of Charlotte and has some wonderful cities around it like Davidson, Cornelius, Mooresville and Huntersville.
Lake Wylie is a nice spot as well.

Some people venture to live in Fort Mill SC. Right across the border.

My point is, you will get a pulled in million directions on here because WE all have our favorite spots. Try to engae the city and area more and worry less about activities while you are there. Dont do some really fun things and go home without seeing the area in full and seeing the bad parts too. You will have a jaded impression and set yourself up for a little disappointment later.

Not sure how that helps to answer my question, but you should want people to visit Charlotte. That helps your economy.

Which post are you objecting to?

It would help to know what your daughter's interests are. Would she like gardens? Which variety of museums? History?
