I am a 23 year old student who will be a cardiac sonographer in 2 years, My fiance is a 24 year old concrete constuction labor foreman for a RI union, and my son is 5 yrs old. My main concern (of course) is being able to find jobs for my fiance and I. any sugggestions? Also while I wouldn't mind a subdivision I am wondering if there are any places in Mooresville with a bit more land? I appreciate any imput about this area in general. Thanks!!!!

All, check out these websites to learn more about Mooresville and the surrounding areas. I am a local Realtor.
www.ncreportcards.org (School Reports). Mooresville is in Iredell County
www.racecityusa.org
www.mooresvillenc.org
www.ci.mooresville.nc.us
www.co.iredell.nc.us
www.StephIrish.com
There are several hospitals close by:
Lake Norman Regional Medical Center - www.lnrmc.com (Mooresville - Exit 33/I-77)
Presbytarian - www.presbyterian.org (Huntersville - Exit 23/I-77)
Carolina Healthcare Systems - www.carolinashealthcare.org (Charlotte)
Lincoln Medical Center - www.lincolnmedical.org (Lincolnton)
How big of a lot are you looking for? Check out Denver, NC as well. That is a growing area with new medical plazas. They are installing a four-lane highway next year which will take Denver traffic to Charlotte within just a few minutes. A new Wal-Mart and Lowe's will be built soon in Denver. A lot of growth - good investment opportunities. Plus, schools are good in Lincoln County.
Please let me know if I can answer any other questions. Send me PM if you like.

My son has lived in Mooresville for 8 yrs now and is happy there. He and his wife are pleased with the school district. They are considered good.
As far as land is considered look around. I have seen some communities where you could pass the Grey Poupon out the window to your neighbor at dinner time. Other communites have a 1/4 acre or more.
I know Ryan homes has a new community going in. They have some lots at a third of an acre. It's called Pecan Hills. they haven't even broken ground yet. they told me in Jan and will continue for the next 3 yrs.
I'm told if you want an acre check out Union county. Hop on over to the Charlotte board there are lots of nice folks from Union county to talk to.
I hope to move too in about two years.Good luck.

Mooresville will probably be a very different place in 2 years time. It keeps expanding out, but there is plenty of land to build on, just when I think theyve run out of land, developers find some more. Its a little packed in, I like to have a lot of land, meaning atleast 10 acres, but its getting expensive. Its already too much for me, Ill probably move further out from the whole Lake Norman scene in a couple of years and settle a county over.

I guess i am one of the lucky ones. We bought a brand new home basically out of town a bit closer to Davidson but still in Mooresville and our home sits on 3/4 of an acre.Houses in this very small subdivision are spaced apart perfecly where you can probably fit easily another house in between.Smart planning on this one

If he still wants to remain in the Union, there is not one in the Mooresville area.My husband was union in Calif. and there are no unions to be found around here.Keep in mind, construction jobs probably pay lower than where you are at if he remains in the trades.Healthcare field for you would not be a problem.
As far as land goes, in two years probably the older homes that sit on pretty spacious lots. New developments are generally not going to be so generous as far as lot size goes.
Being you are young with a family i would consider a subdivision that has plenty of young adults, kids galore some with community swimming pools. Great way to meet people and your child would probably have endless amount of friends in the neigborhood.

Just as a point of reference: Iredell County, of which Mooresville is a part, has several desirable areas for family and land acquision for building. Also, if you will indeed be a cardiac sonographer, NC Baptist Hospital, a teaching hospital affiliated with WFU/Bowman Gray School of Medicine, is ~ 40miles away with a much nicer commute than to Charlotte. Statesville, the largest city (right now) in the county, has 2 hospitals, and the city of Hickory (~25 miles west) also has 2 hospitals. There are construction jobs, but union? I don't think so. Mooresville will probably outgrow Statesville, but in the process, they are giving up an awful lot of what made the town so nice in the past.
